Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm which is located on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for jobs which need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for example, employees can carry out exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts as opposed to having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift normally just holds one worker. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Underneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Since these types of machinery must be directly positioned below the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, provide larger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, because they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle usually utilized to raise workers for different tasks done at heights. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for carrying.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different tasks and are suitable for specific applications and finishing certain tasks.
