Change an LPG Cylinder
There are various types of sources which can power forklifts. They could run using gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many uses. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which could be changed out when the machinery has to be refueled.
In order to prevent potentially serious injury, certain precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be certain to put on the correct safety equipment such as goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the ignition of the forklift before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
