The Liebherr family business was created during 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The company first gained fame from its mobile tower crane that was noted for its ease of assembly and affordability. It was upon this creation that the company's foundation flourished under. Nowadays, Liebherr has grown to become among the leading manufacturers in the world of construction equipment. The company has also gained the reputation of being the accredited provider of user-oriented technically innovative products and services in various fields. The company has now become a "Group" working in each and every continent with more than 35,000 workers and over 130 companies all around the world.
To be able to guarantee a manageable operating size, the Liebherr Group has been divided into various company units. These units have been designed to operate independently. This set up allows the company the ability to be flexible to market signals and stay in tune with global competition. What's more, having so many individual company units also ensures customer proximity and keeps customer service running at an optimum level.
The divisional control companies deal with the production for the individual product segments and the operative management of the sales companies. The Liebherr Group currently encompasses 10 various product divisions.
The holding company of the Liebherr Group is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is located within Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by the Liebherr family members. Now, the family business is being managed by Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr and her brother Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr in the 2nd generation. Ever since 2012, several of the active individual divisions have been represented by members of the family in the third generation like: Stefanie Wohlfarth, Patricia Ruf, Jan Liebherr and Sophie Albrecht. These family members have been working hard together to help set up the course of the family business in the future. They are staying on top of large-scale industrial projects and residential buildings all around the globe.
Hans Liebherr started this quest during the year 1949, with his first business within the small South-German town of Kirchdorf/Iller. Today, Kirchdorf is one of over 20 key manufacturing sites of the Liebherr Group. They employ over 1400 people in that particular workforce and could average an annual output of roughly 2800 wheeled excavators. The company has enjoyed immense growth and diversity ever since it initially started. The Liebherr Group continues to remain dedicated to implementing and engineering innovative designs. They have earned a positive and successful place in the material handling industry.
